20 years is a long time to wait for a retro but these were worth every year. Black nubuck quality is premium and the University Blue accents are exactly right — not too much, not too little.
The 3M reflective tongue under light is what makes this the definitive AJ5 detail. Black and University Blue together on the 5 silhouette is a combination that should've come back years ago.
Tracking came through same day it shipped. Arrived with the OG-style MJ face box in perfect condition. True to size — ordered my usual 9.5 and the fit is exactly right.
The shark-tooth midsole in silver against the black nubuck and icy outsole is the AJ5 formula at its best. The UNC color story through the lining and embroidered heel is a detail most people won't notice until you show them.
First time this colorway has been available since 2006 and Jordan Brand did it justice. The 2026 retro stays true to the original — premium materials, OG packaging, correct University Blue tone.
The translucent mesh side panels on the 5 silhouette age perfectly — they look cleaner in person than in photos. These have become my most-worn pair since they arrived. Incredibly versatile colorway.
MJ wore Carolina Blue at UNC and now it lives on the best AJ5 colorway ever made. Black nubuck is clean out of the box and the icy outsole hasn't yellowed at all. These are a must for any Jordan collector.
